Smoked Sausage on a Pretzel Roll
20 mins prepServes 4
This recipe guides you through making delicious smoked sausage served on a pretzel roll with caramelized peppers, onions, BBQ sauce, and melted provolone cheese. Perfect for a quick and flavorful meal, whether you use a smoker or a pan.
Light a wood fire in your smoker or preheat to 225-250 degrees. Smoke sausage until its internal temperature reaches 165 degrees. (If you do not have a smoker, the sausage can be cooked in a pan or oven instead).
While the sausage is smoking, in a large pan on medium heat, add olive oil, finely sliced peppers, sliced onions, salt, and pepper to taste. Cook the onions and peppers until they are caramelized but still retain some snap, about 7-10 minutes.
Heat your favorite BBQ sauce on low heat in a small saucepan on the stove.
Cut your Pretzilla sausage rolls halfway down the middle lengthwise.
Assemble your rolls with the cooked sausage, BBQ sauce, and caramelized peppers and onions on top.
Add sliced provolone cheese on top and return the assembled rolls to the smoker (or oven/pan) until the cheese is melted, which should take about 5 minutes.
Serve with your favorite BBQ sides and enjoy!
