A flavorful Indian dish featuring seasoned ground beef (keema) cooked with green peas (matar), aromatic spices, tomatoes, and fresh herbs. It's a quick and easy meal, perfect served with naan bread or basmati rice.
In a large pan on medium heat, add the oil and whole spices. Once the cumin seeds start to pop, add in the diced onion. Fry the onion for 3-5 minutes until softened. Then, add the ginger garlic paste and green chilis, sautéing until fragrant for 1 minute. Next, add the puréed tomatoes and once they start simmering, stir in the turmeric, coriander powder, red chili powder, and cumin powder. Mix well until combined. Add the ground beef and water, then season with salt and pepper to taste. Break up the ground beef finely, then cover the pan with a lid and let it simmer for 7-10 minutes, or until the beef is cooked through. Once the beef is cooked, stir in the lemon juice, green peas, and 1-2 tablespoons of garam masala powder, adjusting to your taste. Adjust the seasoning and salt to your liking. Finish the dish with fresh chopped coriander and mint. Serve hot with naan bread or basmati rice on the side.
