A recipe for healthier orange chicken featuring bite-sized chicken thighs coated in a sweet and savory sauce made with fresh orange juice and zest, brown sugar, coconut aminos, ginger, garlic, and a hint of chili flake.
Add chicken thighs to a bowl and season with olive oil, salt and pepper. In a large pan on Med-high heat, sear chicken thighs in olive oil for about 5 minutes. Lower the heat to medium, add garlic and ginger to the pan, cook until fragrant (about 1-2 minutes). In a large bowl combine corn starch, 1/2 cup orange juice, brown sugar, coconut aminos, rice wine vinegar, zest of 1 orange, red chili flakes, salt, and pepper to taste. Whisk sauce until the sugar is dissolved. Add sauce to the pan and simmer until thickened. Finish by squeezing the juice of one orange into the pan and adding chopped green onion. Stir. Garnish with fresh green onion, orange slices, and sesame seeds (optional). Serve with jasmine rice and broccoli. Enjoy!
