A classic Bolognese sauce recipe featuring ground beef, fresh vegetables, tomato purée, and white wine, served over pasta and topped with fresh herbs and Parmesan cheese.
In a large sauce pan on medium/high heat, add 1 Tbsp of olive oil and the ground beef. Sear and brown the beef and then season with salt and pepper. Remove from the pan and set aside.
Next In the same pan, reduce the heat to medium and add 1 Tbsp of olive oil. Add onions and caramelize slightly. Add carrots and celery, season with salt and pepper. Sauté for about 5 minutes then add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Next add tomatoes and sauté for 5 minutes then add wine. Reduce the wine by 1/2.
Next add tomato purée, stir and season with more salt, pepper, and a pinch of sugar to taste. Add oregano, thyme, and basil to the sauce, bring to a simmer then add the ground beef back to the pan. Cook/simmer the sauce for at least 30 minutes or until the veggies are soft. Adjust the seasoning to your taste.
Cook your favorite pasta to the instructions on the box making sure to salt the pasta water.
Serve the bolognese in a bowl on top of the pasta of your choice, top with chopped parsley, basil, and freshly grated parmesan cheese. I recommend serving with garlic bread and a salad on the side. Enjoy!
